12 YEARS A STUDENT: FEARLESS LOVE

Say what you want but for me, Jesus is the reason. I can not tell my story properly without giving thanks to my Lord for keeping me throughout this journey. He sent love my way through many avenues, especially, the Church. For today’s post, I must honor the Greensboro Church fam! Sharpe Road, formerly South English Street, Church of Christ has seen me come and go along the way. I do appreciate the many fellowship gatherings, choir/song group rehearsals, and free meals we shared.

Now this story actually pre-dates my optometry ventures but it’s a worthy share. Around the summer of 2008, I stood up before the congregation asking if someone could offer temporary housing for Free.99 (LOL). After service, a sweet lady approached me and invited me to visit her home. She said she had an extra room but her husband would need to give the final okay for me to stay. Well, they opened their home to me, fed me, provided a car for my commute, and eventually called me their own. That’s when I discovered that love could exist without fear.

Reflections during this period:

I’ll just list a few of my favorite scriptures that I reflect on often. Philippians 3:14, 1 John 4:16-21, 1 Thessalonians 5:12-18, Matthew 5:3-12

This series is titled 12 Years A Student. I will share my journey to becoming an optometrist throughout several posts. Subscribe to get notifications for the new posts. Graduation gifts are unnecessary but always appreciated. If you would like to send something, then my Cashapp is $missBERbie or PayPal at paypal.me/missberladyTTC.

12 YEARS A STUDENT: SPARTAN PRIDE

SPARTAN PRIDE!!! I may have single-handedly sponsored a classroom at UNC-G with my tuition. Just kidding but not really. There’s a special surcharge that hits the bill once you surpass a certain amount of credit hours. Spring of 2012, I received my first award from UNC-G by earning a spot on the Dean’s list. A […]

12 YEARS A STUDENT: THE OFFICE

Coworkers can become like family when you spend most of your time at work. You experience life’s ups and downs, frustrations, disappointments, and celebrations together. From Fall 2011 to Spring 2016, the ECA communication center team was so many things to me. They were my teachers, cheerleaders, and sometimes a shoulder to exhale on. We […]
